BIRMINGHAM City University is launching a public showcase which reveals the latest developments for its flagship city centre campus.

Local people are being given a chance to view exciting plans to build a new centre of excellence at the Eastside regeneration zone in Birmingham's city centre.

A public exhibition is to be staged at Millennium Point on Friday, September 25 (12.30pm to 5.30pm) and Saturday (9.30pm to 12.30pm), September 26, featuring the latest plans and images, plus a new architect's model of the project.

"Our showcase activities, both at Millennium Point and on the web, will give visitors a real flavour of how this scheme is taking shape," said Peter Cochrane, Birmingham City University's project director for the new campus scheme.

"This flagship campus will give Birmingham another striking landmark building on its cityscape and a learning facility that the city and the region can be really proud of."

Bringing to life the Eastside

Birmingham City University is working in partnership with Birmingham City Council and Advantage West Midlands to bring new life to the Eastside area of the city, providing educational opportunities to thousands of people throughout the region and beyond.

Proposals for the new campus are due to be submitted to the city planners in early November for planning approval.

The University's new development, added Peter Cochrane, will be "pivotal to the Eastside regeneration scheme and aims to create a centre for cultural and creative activities with a world-class reputation".

The state-of-the-art development will include fully operational television studios, a library, performance theatre, 250-seat lecture theatre and a learning resource centre. Incorporated inside the iconic campus buildings will be cutting edge technologies to enhance the student experience and support business engagement.
