Birmingham City Business School (BCBS) has been recognised as a centre for excellence in business marketing by the global accreditation body for marketing and business professionals.

Global Marketing Network has announced a strategic partnership with the BCBS, thus strengthening the University’s skills and reputation in the field of business marketing.

The strategic relationship will result in a number of partnership activities aimed at recognising and rewarding the achievements of the most senior people within the Marketing Profession worldwide.

Included within the plans is the development of The Global CMO Awards, ensuring that Marketing Professionals who are setting the benchmark for the Profession around the world will be eligible to be considered for this new prestigious award. Its first recipients will be announced at a glittering awards ceremony in Autumn 2012.

In a joint statement issued by Global Marketing Network Chief Executive, Darrell Kofkin and Executive Dean of Birmingham City Business School, Professor Christopher Prince, they said:

“This exciting partnership between Birmingham City Business School and Global Marketing Network will enable both organisations, in collaboration with our wider networks, to recognise and reward exceptional achievements in Marketing Leadership around the world. Through these Awards, our aim is to identify what constitutes successful, cutting-edge Marketing Practice across the world. Overall, we are working to develop a strong, unified and respected Marketing Profession, worldwide, achieved through the raising of standards within it.”

Also as part of the strategic partnership, Professor of Corporate Performance and Reputation at Birmingham City Business School, Mike Brown, has been appointed as The Global CMO Awards ‘Czar’ building. Professor Brown’s appointment is in recognition of his successful experience of managing the prestigious “Britain’s Most Admired Companies" Awards for the past 20 years which are officially published each year by the UK’s leading management publication, Management Today.

In addition, Professor Christopher Prince, Executive Dean of Birmingham City Business School, has also joined the Global Marketing Network’s Advisory Council, an influential global committee consulted on matters of policy, standards and curriculum development.
