The University’s School of Jewellery has landed the prestigious College Trophy at the Goldsmiths Craft & Design Council Awards 2022, which recognises the institution with the highest number of awards gained across all categories presented at the ceremony.

Staff, students and graduates from the School collected the most awards on the night marking them out as the recipients of this year’s Trophy.

The School of Jewellery, which has been situated in Birmingham’s renowned Jewellery Quarter since 1890, has now been awarded the Trophy in five of the last six years.

Associate Professor Jeremy Hobbins, Joint Acting Head of the Birmingham Institute of Jewellery, Fashion and Textiles at Birmingham City University, said: “It is with real pride that we collect this trophy which recognises the strength and breadth of talent and expertise within the School and its ongoing commitment to the jewellery profession.

The annual Goldsmiths’ Craft & Design Council Awards promote the pursuit of excellence in craftsmanship and design in silversmithing, goldsmithing, jewellery and the allied crafts across the United Kingdom.

The announcement was made during a special ceremony held at Goldsmiths’ Hall in London on Monday 28 February, in front of an audience of 300 assembled guests.
