A lucky visitor to an Open Day at Birmingham City University came away with more than advice about higher education.
42 year-old Prafula Patel won £50 of Love2Shop vouchers after entering a free draw as part of a feedback survey at the event held earlier this year.
Prafula, a full-time care assistant with Birmingham City Council, visited the University’s Faculty of Health in Edgbaston to learn more about available nursing degrees. She said: “The staff at the Open Day were very welcoming, happy and ready to help. I enjoyed the tour and found out all the information I needed to know.”
The University is holding two more Open Days this week on Friday 5 October and Saturday 6 October which will offer a wide range of activities, exhibitions and presentations, giving visitors the chance to meet staff and students. Potential students will also have the opportunity to find out more about the University and learn about the extensive range of courses.
Lyn Holder, Head of Outreach and Enquiry Management, said: "Our Open Days are a great way for potential students to gain an understanding of what we do at the University, they are also a good opportunity for those local students who don't want to go further afield to study to see what we have to offer.
"Often, people don't realise what is under their nose, therefore potential students from Birmingham and the surrounding areas may not appreciate what we have to offer, so our staff and students are looking forward to letting people know what the University is all about."
The University’s October Open Days are traditionally the most popular ones of the year and visitors are advised to register in advance by visiting www.bcu.ac.uk/opendays or calling 0121 331 5595.
