The British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) and Creative Networks are to hold a special screening at Birmingham City University on Thursday 30 October.

The free event will include screenings of films that won Best Short Film and Best Short Animation at this year's EE British Academy Film Awards. There’ll also be screenings of other nominated shorts from these categories.

Films that will be shown on the night include ‘Sea View’ starring Ciaran Griffiths, best known for his roles as Gary Best in ‘The Bill’ and Mickey Maguire in ‘Shameless’.

Mackenzie Crook, known for playing Gareth Keenan in ‘The Office’ and Orell in ‘Game of Thrones’, features in two of the short films to be shown on the evening – ‘I Am Tom Moody’, a short animation film about creative struggle and ‘Orbit Ever After’, a science fiction romance.

Birmingham City University’s hosts of the event, Creative Networks, provides a space for innovators to meet, share ideas and shape the future. As well as delivering valuable insights into technology trends and developments, Creative Networks brings together all parties involved in screen-based and sound based media in the West Midlands, promoting both successful business development and collaboration.

The event runs from 5.45pm until 9.00pm at the University's City Centre Campus.

The event follows the Birmingham Music Network and the Birmingham Screen Image Network, taking place from 4pm until 5.30pm.
