The University’s Ask Student Enquiry Service won the Outstanding use of Innovation and Technology category at Tribal System’s SITS:FEST 2016 earlier this week.
The team won the award in recognition of its innovative use of queuing and kiosk technology in online service iAsk, as well as the customised processes within the system. Ask was shortlisted in four of the six award categories at the event, reflecting the strides made in the development of its service and expanded use of technology in the past year.
University Secretary and Director of Operations, Christine Abbott says: “This achievement has been delivered by a huge team effort across Ask, Registry Services and Ask project partners. Congratulations to them all.”
Over the last 6 months of Ask Phase 2 development work, the University has developed the iAsk product to provide an increasingly seamless experience for students. The team has also spent time working with Tribal and other universities to advise on functionality, as part of Tribal’s continuous development programme. Ask is now part of a highly active user community, sharing expertise and experience and acting as a reference site for other universities.
Tribal is the provider of a number of Higher Education systems, including the SITS student record system and iAsk at BCU, and is used by over 60 per cent of universities in the UK. The recent and forthcoming developments to iAsk as part of our roll-out to faculties this month has meant that BCU is now considered Tribal’s top university in the UK for its use of their student information desk (iAsk) product.
