Birmingham art fans are being invited to participate in "Galleries Night" and jump aboard a festive ‘Art Bus’ next week, to enjoy a free tour of some of the City’s top art attractions.

Starting its journey at 5pm on Wednesday 3 December, the Christmas coach will take passengers on an evening tour, visiting exhibitions at six of Birmingham’s renowned art galleries, including Barber Institute of Fine Arts, the Ikon Gallery and the Parkside Gallery at Birmingham City University.

With a mixture of contemporary and historical art and design from British and international artists each gallery has something different to offer. With staff on hand at each venue to welcome visitors they will feel at ease, relaxed and ready to enjoy the great art on display.

The Art Bus timetable is available from all participating gallery websites, so passengers can hop on and off throughout the evening.

John Hall, Exhibitions Manager at The Parkside Gallery in Birmingham City University, said: “Birmingham City University is delighted to take part in such a fun, and free event! We look forward to welcoming visitors to the Hille + Day exhibition, a celebration of the work of Robin Day and Hille furniture, who in 1963 launched one of the most significant chairs of the twentieth century. The Polyprop side chair has seen more than 14 million sales worldwide and has become a well-known fixture in schools and offices across the world.

“The Art Bus promises to be a great event, bringing old and new visitors to our gallery. It’s a perfect occasion for a relaxed catch up with friends and a chance to wander around some of Birmingham’s best art venues.”
