A former Birmingham City University student is celebrating after securing a permanent role with international music business, Warner Music Group.
Sebastian Simone, a Media and Communication graduate from the Birmingham School of Media at Birmingham City University, is to join the company in summer in a full-time marketing position.
Graduating from the University in 2011 with a first class honours degree specialising in Music Industries, Sebastian utilised his University experience throughout a series of rigorous interviews. Sebastian said: “The recruitment stages were different to how I imagined and involved demonstrating my entrepreneurial skills. I also had to talk about digital piracy, which was an area I felt confident about as it had been covered within my course modules.
“I was over the moon when I found out I had been successful and received some really positive feedback,” added Sebastian.
Originally from Derby, Sebastian will be working in London at Warner Bros Records, one of many record labels part of the Warner Music Group. Warner Bros Records is one of the most successful recording companies in music history and home to some of the most influential and innovative artists across the globe.

It’s great to know that the content of what is taught on the Music Industries specialist pathway is reflective of the skills that employers in the industry are seeking in a graduate.”
The Birmingham School of Media, part of the University’s designation as a is recognised for its work within the media industry and producing strong, business-focused media professionals.
