World leading expert on human rights Dr Jon Yorke has recently presented at the Fifth World Congress Against the Death Penalty at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts of Saint Ferdinand and the Palace of Congress, Madrid.
The participants at the Madrid Congress, which is organised by Together Against the Death Penalty, included Nobel Laureates, politicians, judges, lawyers, journalists, academics, and civil society. Jon presented alongside former Prime Minister of Spain, Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero in the session “The death sentence as cruel and inhuman punishment: cruelty in international law jurisprudence and national courts”.
