This January, the Department of Post Qualifying Healthcare Practice within the School of Nursing and Midwifery welcomed another 15 nursing students sponsored by Guangdong Health commission who are pursuing an MSc in Professional Practice.
This new cohort joins the 37 existing MSc Professional Practice students from Guangdong, who commenced their studies at BCU in September 2018. Further to the success of the programme, Guangdong Health commission is considering an overseas CPD training base to be located at BCU, which could make BCU the only centre in the United Kingdom, alongside three other prestigious collaborations with Harvard, Johns Hopkins and the Mayo Clinic.
The Faculty is actively engaging with other Health Commissions to help to meet China’s huge healthcare demand by providing bespoke CPD and workforce development for practitioners in the primary care sector. Professor Louise Toner and Dr Nan Ma visited the Shenzhen Health Commission in February to finalise the training package for all community nurses in the city of Shenzhen, which is China’s fastest growing city.
