Fashion and jewellery retail buyers from some of the biggest high street brands are to gather in Birmingham this week to share insights on how to run a successful retail business.
The ‘Fashion and Jewellery Exchange’ event organised by Enterprise Nation and hosted at Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery on Friday 13 May includes speakers from John Lewis, River Island and Selfridges.
The day-long event will offer practical business advice as well as opportunities for budding designers to present their wares to top retail buyers.
A panel of successful entrepreneurs will explain how they began their businesses and accessed support to continue growing, including watchmaker Rebecca Struthers, a graduate from Birmingham City University’s School of Jewellery.
“Demonstrating the value of your work and building trust with clients takes time, while surviving in the interim can be a difficult balancing act”, said Rebecca.
Sessions throughout the day will also focus on how to manage business funds, what you need to know about selling goods online and techniques on impressing customers.
“Bringing the event to the Midlands also offers students a perfect platform for some real face time on the reality of the industry and the opportunities on offer.”
