The second Historical Pragmatics conference has been held at the City Centre Campus of Birmingham City University.
Historical pragmatics is the study of language use, in its historical dimension. The conference in April followed the inaugural colloquium held in October 2014 at the University of Sheffield.
"The conference provided the grounds for reviewing methodological approaches, sharing ideas, asking new questions, and collaborating in the construction of initial answers," says Dr Ursula Lutzky, organiser of the event.
It brought together historical pragmatists from across the UK, with visitors joining us from the Universities of Edinburgh, Strathclyde, Lancaster, Sheffield and the University of Central Lancashire.
The workshop offered the opportunity of discussing current and future projects, as well as trends in the discipline at a significant point in time, as historical pragmatics is now celebrating its 20-year anniversary in 2015.
