University partners with industry to encourage women to study engineering degrees

Birmingham City University is delighted to be working in partnership with Meridian Lightweight Technologies UK to offer a special bursary designed to support Women in Science and Engineering (WISE).

Three bursaries of £1,000 funded by Meridian Lightweight Technologies UK are available to female applicants who will be starting an engineering course in 2017.

In addition to the £1,000 bursary, successful applicants will also have the opportunity to undertake a placement at Meridian during the course of their studies.

To apply for the bursary, applicants should submit 500 words on the subject “Why the world needs more magnesium products”. To find out more about the scholarship criteria and submit your entry, visit our scholarship page.

The deadline for applications is 25 September 2017.

The bursary forms part of the University’s ongoing work to encourage more women into science and engineering careers. The University is a member of WISE (Women in Science and Engineering), and holds an annual event for local schools as part of International Women in Engineering Day.
