Birmingham Schools Athletics championships

The School of Education has proudly sponsored the Birmingham Primary Schools Athletics championship, in recognition of its support towards children participating in sports. The 'Overall Winners' shield is now engraved as the 'Birmingham City University Trophy' and will be presented to one primary school team each year.

The 27 annual athletics championships took place at the Hadley Stadium, with 14 primary schools from across Birmingham keenly competing. Our students volunteered at the event, developing their experience in extra-curricular activities for school children.

Chairman of the Birmingham Primary Schools Athletics Association Chris Smith said: "We very much appreciate the support and sponsorship from Birmingham City University. After an exciting day of track and field events the overall champions for 2014 were Benson Primary School, Hockley. The new Overall Winners Trophy sponsored by the University was presented to the Benson team captains by Dr Imran Mogra of the University."
