Social Work students at Birmingham City University benefit uniquely from undertaking three work placements in distinctively separate placements, leading to a more well rounded and broader educational and training experience, working with service users with distinctly different needs.
The programme is delivered by experienced qualified Social Work practitioners, Service Users and current practitioners. Experiencing such a broad range of placements and variety of service users better prepares you for life as a qualified Social Worker, and can help identify any specific areas of practice you may want to later specialise in, having experienced them first hand. It also means you have greater contact with a number of employers, increasing your chances of a job once you have graduated.
The programme works closely with a broad range of agencies, practitioners and service users resulting in the richest education and training available. We are already the largest provider of qualified Health and Social Care practitioners in the region.
You will be able to demonstrate and develop academic learning in relation theoretical perspectives, legislative and policy frameworks whilst on practice placement. You can also expect robust support systems through the programme.
