The wonders of science

CEBE will be hosting a World of STEM day on Wednesday 26 June at Millennium Point. Around 700 Year 9 pupils from local schools are expected to attend the event, which aims to open pupils' eyes to the opportunities afforded by studying a STEM subject.

Throughout the day, pupils will be participating in activities such as rocket and car making, Lego challenges, Artificial Intelligence (AI) demonstrations and a building challenge involving a 14-metre-long bridge provided by the Institute of Civil Engineers. Academics will also be on hand to talk about the benefits of a BSc degree.

Head of Student Recruitment Anne Young says: “This event is a great success every year, and it’s fantastic to see so many young people coming on to campus and engaging with STEM subjects and activities. It’s a brilliant chance to open their eyes to the opportunities that the study of STEM can bring.”
