TEE works with IT leader to support training in prisons

University News Last updated 21 March 2011

Over the past eight years TEE has been collaborating with leading IT supplier CISCO to train staff from 25 prisons across the country in ICT skills. In turn, these staff have gone on to teach prison inmates computer networking skills, responding to a skills gap in the workforce.

To support this project further, the Faculty has donated its old IT equipment for use in the training programme, contributing to the University’s wider Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental agendas. The Prisons ICT Academy (PICTA) is currently experiencing a shortage in IT equipment - departments and faculties that are interested in making a donation should contact Rebecca Barnett, Environmental Officer.
