The NCCE is funded by the Department for Education and its remit is to improve computing education across primary and secondary schools by upskilling teachers in computer science across the country.

Together with nine other Regional Delivery Partners across England, the University will provide a range of Continuous Professional Development (CPD) opportunities to primary and secondary school teachers to ensure that they have the confidence and subject knowledge to teach computer science at all key stages.

The scheme is part of the Government’s £84 million investment to improve computing teaching across England’s schools. The NCCE aims “for every child in every school in England to be taught the digital skills they need to thrive economically and socially, and to maintain the UK as a leading global digital economy”.

NCCE Regional Delivery Partner Co-ordinator Keith Buncle said: “We are members of a select group of CPD providers until October 2019. This partnership is extremely positive as it creates direct links with all schools in the region.”
