The panel will be made up of Paul Faulkner, Chief Executive of the Greater Birmingham Chambers of Commerce, Gary Topp, CEO of Culture Central and Beverly Nielsen, Director of the Institute of Design and Economic Acceleration.

Speakers will tackle topics such as reports Birmingham could lose out on £7 billion in the wake of Brexit, and research showing West Midlands business leaders see Brexit as a key concern, as well as taking questions directly from audience members.

The event, which will be chaired by the BBC’s Terry Goodwin, will take place in the Curzon Building on the University’s City Centre Campus in Birmingham’s Eastside.

Professor Julian Beer, Deputy Vice-Chancellor at Birmingham City University, said: “For two years now the dominant topic of conversation in the news, offices and pubs has been Brexit and we are living in unprecedented times.

“With the process now underway we need to take a closer look at what this might mean for Birmingham and the wider West Midlands region, and give the public the chance to put their questions to the experts.

The Brexit and Birmingham talk follows a series of events held by Birmingham City University’s Centre for Brexit Studies.

These have included visits from high profile speakers such as Shadow Brexit Secretary Sir Keir Starmer and Liberal Democrat Leader Sir Vince Cable.

Researchers from the Centre have also been touring the country to visit the UK’s top Leave voting constituencies to find out their views on Brexit and how the government are carrying out the process of leaving the European Union.

Tickets for the event can be booked by visiting Eventbrite and searching for ‘Brexit and Birmingham’.
