Award winning designer, and Birmingham City University graduate, Victoria Eggs will be honoured next week at a university Graduation Ceremony.
Since graduating from Birmingham City University in 2005 with a degree in Fine Art, Victoria has gone on to become a global name in the homeware and gift industry. Her playful designs celebrate the country's rich heritage and her childhood memories, some of which feature iconic London landmarks and cockney-rhyming slang.
Victoria Eggs said: "I felt incredibly honoured and surprised to find out I was to receive such recognition from an institution where I have such fond memories. Birmingham City University is a great place to study and I'm looking forward to going back to celebrate this award."
Founded by its namesake in March 2011, it wasn't long before Victoria was awarded 'Gift of the Year 2012' for 'Made in the UK', and came runner up in the 'Celebrating Britain' category. She was also shortlisted for the 'Heart Home Design Awards 2012' and a finalist for Startups Awards 2013, Home-based Business of the Year 2013.
The Victoria Eggs range is now stocked by over 200 retailers globally, and her quirky, nostalgic designs have earned her a firm place on the shelves of Selfridges, West Elm, Tate Modern and The National Gallery. Her annual turnover has grown to over £100,000 thanks to a growing international presence in Asia, France, Russia, Australia and America.
Over the past 10 years Victoria has gained a wealth of experience within the creative industries, using her passion for photography to design greeting cards for Real and Exciting Designs and VE Gallery. She then went on to work for inspirational branding and communication company BrandCulture and designed T-Shirt graphics for Ben Sherman in Australia, before establishing her own brand.
Victoria will be honoured on Monday 1 September as one of the University's Alumni of the Year in the 'Enterprise and Innovation' category.
