Landscape Architecture PhD student Anastasia Nikologianni has recently returned from presenting elements of a research project undertaken in Holland at the sixth International Conference on Landscape and Urban Horticulture.

The “significant” multi-disciplinary industry conference took place from June 20-25 and was organised by both the International Society of Horticultural Science and the Agricultural University of Athens.

The city of Athens

The event was staged in Greece’s capital city of Athens and included industry attendees spanning all over the world including the United States of America, Australia, Asia and Europe. Anastasia said:

Local landscape and horticultural projects

Through meeting professionals, fellow researchers and former colleagues, Anastasia was also able to get an insight into local landscape and horticultural projects. Anastasia added:

“Personally I was very happy to meet fellow landscape architects from Greece and to find out about local activities and projects. I had the opportunity to showcase my current research work and present two sustainable landscape projects from my trip to the Holland. This also enabled me to engage with former colleagues as I have a horticultural background."

Professor Kathryn Moore

As part of the five-day event, the Panhellenic Association of Landscape Architects (PHALA) organised an evening in the honour of Kathryn Moore, Professor of Landscape Architecture at Birmingham School of Architecture and Design as International Federation of Landscape Architects (IFLA) President, giving the opportunity for members to meet Kathryn and find out more about the latest activities of the IFLA.
