A selection of students from Birmingham School of Architecture and Design’s Conservation of the Historic Environment course were chosen to feature in a video explaining inspirations behind getting into conservation during the Institute of Historic Building Conservation (IHBC) Annual School 2016.
The prestigious industry gathering inclusive of practitioners and specialists in conservation from all over the country and beyond was organised by the West Midlands Branch of the IHBC, the professional body which validates Building Conservation courses in Britain, and took place from 23-25 June in Worcester.
This year’s topic
Each year the Annual School is centred on a particular topic, and in addition to providing opportunities to learn about Worcester’s history of buildings and its future visions, this year’s theme of ‘People Power’ inspired the running video throughout the event presenting interviews with IHBC members and associates.
The ‘stars’
Over half of the ‘stars’ were students of the Conservation of the Historic Environment course at Birmingham School of Architecture and Design. Harriet Devlin MBE, Course Director who also featured in the video said:
"This really encapsulated how all of our students on the course at Birmingham School of Architecture and Design really do have a genuine passion for conservation, and it was really interesting to uncover the many different inspirations behind the involvement of our students in the field of conservation and how this has fuelled their willingness to make a difference."
