Birmingham School of Architecture and Design is set to introduce the first lecture in a new series entitled 'Exploring Materiality and its impact and understanding on Designers, Makers and Architects'.
The lecture takes place on Monday 7 December at 5pm in Birmingham City University’s Parkside Lecture Theatre and includes materials expert, author, consultant, speaker and industrial designer Chris Lefteri.
Lefteri presents the first lecture called ‘What will the future feel like? The changing role of materials and design’. Jackie Norton Arts, Design and Media Director of Academic Partnerships and International Courses Coordinator for Birmingham School of Architecture and Design said:
In 2001 Lefteri published the first of eight books on materials and the application in design, which have been translated into six languages. These books have led the change in the way designers view and use materials.
Subsequently his studio, Chris Lefteri Design, has worked with Fortune 500 companies and major design studios across Europe, the US and Asia implementing a broad range of strategies for effective materials integration in the design process.
The studio’s distinctive cross-industry expertise in automotive, packaging, sports, furniture, consumer electronics and fashion leads to fresh approaches and bleeding-edge outcomes. Jackie Norton added:
