Rafael Quintero Godinez

Rafael Quintero Godínez is a Lecturer at Birmingham City University, where he teaches and conducts sociolegal research in international economic law and judicial independence. He completed his PhD in Law at the University of Warwick, focusing on Systems Theory and Investment Arbitration. His thesis was approved with minor corrections. Rafael holds an LLM in European and International Tax Law from Lund University and an LLB in Economic Law from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.

In his current role, Rafael leads the 'Corporate Criminality and Tax Evasion' module for LLM students and is a seminar tutor for 'Professional Skills' and 'Business Law' for LLB students, actively involved in supervising PhD, LLM, and LLB students. His prior experience includes roles as Senior Graduate Teaching Assistant at Warwick Law School and Warwick Business School, along with visiting lecturer positions at the University of Szeged and Mathias Corvinus Collegium.

Rafael's academic contributions include articles in the Journal of International Arbitration and an upcoming chapter for the Edward Elgar Research Handbook on Law and Systems Theory, focusing on the autonomisation process of investment arbitration tribunals.

As an Associate Fellow of the Higher Education Academy, and having earned the Supervising Postgraduate Research Certification, Rafael demonstrates a strong commitment to academic development and teaching excellence.
