Paul Maguire qualified as a Solicitor in 1993 and worked in private practice until 2007. Paul worked in the areas of Criminal Law, Employment, Family and Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence Law.

In the latter stages of private practice he developed specialisms in complex Employers’ Liability claims, Occupational disease cases and Fatal Accident Claims.

For the bulk of his career he has been involved in Claimant Personal Injury work for firms with a Trade Union client base.

In 2008 he started to make the transition from private practice to teaching. He started initially as a Visiting Lecturer on the LPC Course at BCU working to deliver Family Law and then Personal Injury and Clinical Negligence courses. He then began teaching on some Law related subjects within the Education department on the Children and Integrated Professional Care Degree;-English Legal System, Family Law, Children and the Law and Youth Crime Law and Practice.  He has then become involved in teaching on some of the Law degree courses, Family, Professional Skills and Practice and Tort Law. There have also been opportunities to teach on the LPC Civil Litigation and Advocacy courses. In the last academic year he also taught on the PGDL leading on Tort law on the Professional Obligations course.

Paul is now at Birmingham City University in a full time position.
