After twenty years of working in the Jewellery and Gemstone industry and studying for numerous trade qualifications, Michelle graduated from the School of Jewellery with a First class BSc (Hons) in Gemmology and Jewellery studies in 2015.

Michelle began teaching at Birmingham City University as a Visiting Lecturer and now teaches full time on the Gemmology and Jewellery studies BSc degree, her subjects include valuation science, jewellery knowledge, diamond grading, gemmology and advanced spectroscopy. 

Michelle’s other education roles have been with the National Association of Jewellers and Gem-A (teaching their Diamond Diploma and Practical Gemmology Diploma). She has also delivered taught sessions for schoolchildren at Birmingham Museums.

Prior to entering education Michelle opened and managed an up market Jewellery boutique. As well as developing a unique brand image and reputation, the role also included selecting and purchasing loose diamonds and gemstones that were set into distinctive jewellery designs.
