Making friends

Student Buddies

During the Monday morning main registration and ‘buddy time’, you will be assigned to a group of 20 new students and a student buddy. These student buddies will be volunteering their time to make your experience unforgettable. Student buddies will attend events throughout the week and encourage you to participate where you feel comfortable, if you have any questions or concerns, they are there to help!

International Activities Week participation

We strongly encourage all our new students to attend all events throughout International Activities Week. The more you participate, the more people you will meet who are going through the same change in circumstance as yourself. In previous years many International and EU students have met new friends during this week who have been present throughout their whole university journey and for life!

Get a head start!

Social media is a great way of meeting new people with similar interests and discovering events of interest held by the University and its students. The University has many social media pages including BCU Students Union and BCU Student Affairs. Why not introduce yourself by joining our Facebook page. Your introduction could start with your name, course and country you will be travelling from!

Welcome Week and the Student's Union

Welcome Week will take place the week after International Activities Week, this will be another week full of talks, events and activities. Unlike International Activities Week, students from the UK will also attend this event. The Student's Union will be heavily involved in this week, they offer many opportunities for students to ‘get involved’ including: societies, sports teams/activities and volunteering.
