CAS Shield – a step-by-step guide for international offer holders
Once you have firmly accepted your unconditional offer and paid £1000 of your deposit, you will then be emailed an invite to the Enroly CAS Shield platform within three to five working days, the email may go to your junk/spam folder so remember to check this regularly. On CAS Shield, you will provide all documentation required for the University to review your eligibility for a CAS. Once they have been reviewed and approved, your CAS will be released to you.

Follow the instructions on the invitation email and log in to your CAS Shield profile.

Complete your information checks. You will need to confirm each point by clicking the tick beside the information. If any of the information is incorrect you can also edit the information to amend this. We will be unable to proceed with reviewing your questionnaire until this has been fully completed.

You will then proceed to the Finance section, where you will need to show how you will be funding your studies. For more information, please visit our dedicated financial evidence page. The page contains a lot of information, and it is very important that you understand it to minimise your risk of refusal.

Complete the General Document’s section and upload all relevant documentation that has been requested. The documentation you will need to provide will depend on the answers given on CAS Shield, but examples include:
- Any current or previous UK visas or previous visa refusal letters (if applicable).
- Your academic transcript and certificates.
- Evidence of English language proficiency (most students will be required to provide evidence of English Language, therefore when asked on CAS Shield if English is required, select ‘yes’.
- Tuberculosis (TB) clearance certificate (only if you are applying from a country that requires this).
- Academic Technology Approval Scheme (ATAS) clearance certificate (only if your course of study at BCU requires this).

If required, you will be invited to record an interview on CAS Shield, you can self-book this interview and it needs to be completed within seven working days.

Once all sections have been completed, our CAS team will assess and review the documents provided. If everything is approved, you will then be issued a CAS containing your unique CAS number and you can start the application for your visa.

Top tips
- The earlier you start completing CAS Shield, the sooner you will get your CAS letter
- If you are working with an agent, CAS Shield must be completed by you and not the agent
- Ensure all documents uploaded are of good quality
