Nigeria
Nigerians living in Birmingham will be welcomed to a friendly, multicultural city where they feel very much at home. Birmingham offers lots, including two major Nigerian food stores and several Nigerian restaurants.
Birmingham has many places of worship, including churches and mosques, and an active African Students Society through our Students' Union.
Nigerian music is popular in Birmingham, and there are many venues where you can listen to your favourite Nigerian artists. We also have many entertaining places to go out, including StarCity, a 25-screen cinema, a bowling alley, and places to eat.
It's a particularly exciting time to become a student at Birmingham City University. We've invested over £500 million in our estate, including a major expansion of our City Centre Campus at Eastside, providing students with an enviable range of facilities.
Our research work continues to attract international attention, 93% of our research was recognised internationally for originality, significance and rigour, of which 19% was judged world-leading (REF 2021).
We are actively engaged with Nigeria and visit your country often. Our academics, International Regional Manager, and International Recruitment Officers conduct student interviews at our agents' offices in Abuja, Lagos and Ibadan. Muhammad Sagir Usman
BSc (Hons) CBeST Computing with Network Technology
“I heard that Birmingham City University had an outstanding reputation, particularly with the international student community. I enjoyed my lectures and group discussions, and I also found the University a very welcoming place, and I made many new friends during the course. I thought that the accommodation offered by the University was more than suitable due to their proximity to bus stops, the shops, the GP and the hospital. I saw that Birmingham overall is an incredibly vibrant multicultural city and better than other cities in the UK! I always recommend Birmingham City University to students wishing to go to the UK for studies, and six of them have listened to my advice!”

What our students say...
"Hi, my name is Bukky Tijani from Lagos, Nigeria. I’m a recent Master’s in Media Production student of Birmingham City University, where I finished with a Distinction and had the honour of giving the Graduate speech at my Graduation for the class of 2024.
My time at Birmingham City University was nothing short of transformative. It was indeed a chapter defined by resilience, opportunities, growth and purpose. After two initial rejections, I didn’t give up. I applied a third time, determined to make the vision I had for myself a reality, and BCU became the place where that vision took root and flourished."
