Lucinda is a Pattern Cutting Lecturer and Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (HEA) with 7 years lecturing experience in HE.

She began teaching fashion design and pattern cutting in 2008 at both further education and vocational education courses. Teaching Fashion, Costume and Millinery, she also was the Course Lead for a City and Guild ‘Gap Year’ programme at IDC. She then joined BCU firstly as a VT on the Fashion Design and Costume Design degree in 2017. She was then employed as a full-time pattern cutting lecturer in 2019, where she has taught on both technical and design modules.

Prior to lecturing, Lucinda worked freelance as a pattern cutter for a range of independent designers. In 2011, she won the ‘Rising Star’ category for the Master Taylors Golden Shears Award, a prestigious bespoke tailoring competition, and was also featured in British Vogue. From this, she continued her bespoke work through her own business.

Lucinda’s areas of expertise are traditional and creative pattern cutting, sustainable cutting processes, bespoke tailoring, atelier construction, fashion design, illustration, and textiles.
