Andy is a Lecturer in Civil Engineering at the School of Engineering and the Built Environment. Prior to joining Birmingham City University, Andy was a Research Officer in the ”Advanced Sustainable Manufacturing Technologies (ASTUTE)" project in the College of Engineering at Swansea University. He was also a Teaching Associate and Lecturer at London South Bank University.

During his time as a Research Officer at ASTUTE in Swansea University, Andy’s role was to provide research-based technical assistance to industrial, commercial and public sector organisations within the convergence region of Wales, by applying advanced engineering technologies to manufacturing challenges.

Andy has a strong fluid and structure engineering background and his research interests cover a range of disciplines in the field of computational mechanics such as Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD), Computational Structural Dynamics and multi-physics Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI). His PhD research looks at the approach of Fluid-Structure Interaction (FSI) partitioned methods of strong and weak coupling systems for one and two-way problems that relate to the multi-physics problems of offshore building structures under high fluid flow impact.
