Mohammad graduated from Arak Azad University, Iran, with a BSc in Civil Engineering in 2007. He undertook a Master’s programme (Geotechnical Engineering) and obtained his MSc in Civil Engineering in 2010. After one year in industry, working in structural design, he decided to continue his education and started his PhD research at the University of Bristol in 2011.
His PhD was based on the seismic performance of different structures such as wood-frame and reinforced concrete (RC) buildings, considering mainshock and aftershock sequences. His PhD research has resulted in several publications in leading international journals and conference papers. After he finished his PhD in 2016, he joined the School of Engineering at the University of Warwick as a Research Fellow in Structural Health Monitoring. The project involved implementation and development of an advanced FE model for structural modelling of the Suramadu Bridge in Indonesia. Using the data from health monitoring systems and the advanced FE model, the performance of the bridge was examined considering traffic loads, temperature variation and seismic loads.
He joined Birmingham City University’s Faculty of Computing, Engineering and the Built Environment as Assistant Lecturer in March 2018. He is a member of professional associations such as the International Society for Structural Health Monitoring of Intelligent Infrastructure (ISHMII), and the Institution of Civil Engineers as a graduate member (MICE).
