After qualifying from the University of Wales in 2003, Jessica has spent the majority of her professional experience within statutory children’s services, where she held posts both as a practitioner and manager in safeguarding teams. This allowed her to gain experience of working in child protection and child in need services and through the processes of care proceedings.

Whilst in local authority, Jessica held a specialist post as a social worker for domestic abuse, which has sparked her interest in this subject. She has worked for the NSPCC as a deputy manager in a school based therapeutic project and has experience of working in the Youth Justice System.

Jessica's own interest in learning has led her to complete an MA at SPIRE (Keele University) and she was fortunate to be awarded an internship at the UN in Geneva as part of this learning. Jessica joined the Open University as an Associate Lecturer in 2009 and Staffordshire University as a full time Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in 2013 before being appointed at BCU in November 2018.
