Accredited by the internationally respected Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT), our MSc International Logistics and Supply Chain Management degree covers complex production flows, production processes, distribution and materials management, channels of supply, procurement strategies and logistics systems management in the UK and international logistics sectors.
The term logistics addresses every aspect of operation of product-based and service industry sectors. International logistics can affect operations from the initial design process and sourcing of the raw materials and bought in components to the long-term satisfaction of the customer. Customer satisfaction is achieved by ensuring the supply of the right goods, in the right quantity, of the right quality, at the right price, to the right place, anywhere in the world, at the right time.
With companies facing ever-increasing competition, coupled with the need to reduce waste and improve the overall service offered to customers from initial design to final delivery, the need for highly skilled logistics practitioners and managers has never been more pronounced.
Our Open Day for this course will take place in Spring 2021. Register now and we will contact you when the booking form goes live.

Students are required to submit a personal statement as part of their application for this course.
Your postgraduate personal statement is going to shine a light on your personal experience, academic success, personal skills and any other factors that will support your application for further study.
Here are the key areas you’ll need to address:
Studying a postgraduate course usually means you want to specialise in something. So what’s driving you?
Show that you’ve researched the course offering. What is it about this particular course that appeals to you? Is it the lecturers? The modules? Etc.
Tutors want to know that you can handle postgraduate study, so show them how your undergraduate experiences or work life has equipped you for a more advanced level of study. Key areas to address are research and group work but this can vary depending on your chosen course.
Add anything relevant that relates back to your chosen course and shows how your skills will contribute towards your learning. What extra-curricular activities have you taken part in? What awards have you won? What employment or voluntary experience do you have that has helped you develop transferable skills? How do these specifically relate to the course you are applying for?
You should also mention your future plans and how a postgraduate qualification fits in. Try to look beyond your postgraduate study – do you plan to jump straight into a specific career or follow your studies with a research degree? Lastly, use plain, professional English and, where possible, utilise the language of your chosen industry.

There are no compulsory additional costs or charges associated with studying on this course. While you may choose to purchase personal copies of text books, all our key text books are available from our library or online (subject to normal library loan and online access arrangements). Logistics at NATO
Already working in the field of logistics for NATO, Christopher Cheesman was looking for a Master's level qualification that he could study from Luxembourg, and the distance learning course from Birmingham City University fitted the bill.
When he joined the course, he was a member of the Management and Planning Section, working as part of the General Manager's staff in the NATO Maintenance and Supply Agency. He has since continued in the same field of work, although he has now been promoted to lead the team. The Agency has been through a major integration with two other agencies to form the NATO Support Agency and the General Manager that Christopher works for leads the integrated group.
This degree course is accredited by the Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport.
There are opportunities to apply for a research (MPhil or PhD) programme in an area of logistics or supply chain management that you are interested in. Details can be found on the postgraduate section of the website.
We will prepare you for employment by providing you with the skills, experience and industry links you’ll need to thrive upon graduating.
The University also has its Graduate+ scheme, an extracurricular programme which is designed to augment and enhance the subject-based skills you develop through the programme. These additional skills and attributes will further enhance your employment options and prospects once you leave the University.
The programme will help you develop your skills in CV writing, presentations, covering letters and creating winning portfolios.
