Pianist and composer Gao Ping

Renowned Chinese pianist-composer Gao Ping is known for his evocative textures and piano vocalisation, and his music has been commissioned from groups around the world and performed across the globe.

This journey through Western and Eastern-inspired traditions explores the sonorities of works for piano left hand with the hauntingly atmospheric LefTango, to the chants of Prayer Songs for string quartet that shape shift towards a harmonious union, and the exciting and ethereal techniques of the final work for large ensemble.

Join us for this collaborative performance featuring Gao Ping, Associate-Head of Keyboard Daniel Browell and students of Royal Birmingham Conservatoire.

LefTango for solo piano
Valley Echoes for piano 4 hands
Prayer Songs for string quartet
A selection of songs from Melody Abandoned for Soprano and piano
Raindrops Melody abandoned
Listening to the Qin
Four not-alike for multi-function pianist and large ensemble (Dexter Drown conductor)

Running time approx. one hour and 15 minutes
