Ben Baldwin is an exciting, young saxophonist, arranger and recording artist originally from Holmfirth in West Yorkshire. He has become well-known for his versatility and an ability to seamlessly move from one genre to another whether that be classical, jazz, pop, folk or even riot punk.

Ben regularly performs and collaborates with a large number of acts, both as a regular and guest player. These include the likes of his own band: Third Floor - a ‘Brass-Driven Funk Powerhouse’; young pop sensation Bea Badilla; Funky horn Juggernaut: Deadbeat Brass and many others. Ben is also a founding member of the UK’s Split Reeds Quintet, with which he performed at the International Reed Quintet Festival in Amsterdam in 2025. Ben has appeared at several major UK  venues including the Royal Albert Hall; O2 Academies in Manchester and Birmingham; De Montfort Hall; and abroad has made his debut at Amsterdam’s prestigious Muziekgebouw aan 't IJ.

As a soloist Ben has been commended for his playing by several bodies. He was the recipient of the Greenhead College Young Musician of the Year award (2023); HD9 Community Music Best Woodwind Player (2023); and Mrs Sunderland Young Musician of the Year 3rd prize (2025).

Ben is currently in his 4th year of performance at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire under the tutelage of Naomi Sullivan, Anna Brooks and David Zucchi. After graduating Ben plans to pursue a career as a session musician and live performer as a soloist, sectional player and band leader.

Lucy Horne (pictured above) is a pianist currently studying for her undergraduate degree in music at Royal Birmingham Conservatoire. She began playing piano at the age of six and discovered a lifelong passion for music and performing. Alongside furthering her own musical education, Lucy teaches piano part time at a local music school.

In her first year she was the winner of the Denis Matthews Piano Prize, and was nominated to receive the Miss Bowen Cup.
