The Birmingham Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by Music Director Jack Lovell-Huckle, presents Planet Earth - a spectacular musical journey through landscapes, wildlife, oceans and the forces of nature.
The concert begins with Mascagni’s radiant Prelude and Hymn to the Sun from Iris, before Debussy’s atmospheric Nuages paints an ever-changing sky. Wagner’s Forest Murmurs takes us deep into the natural world, followed by Mussorgsky’s thrilling Night on Bald Mountain in its original version.
From the power of the sea in Carwithen’s Bishop Rock Overture to the shimmering, elemental brilliance of Debussy’s La mer, this is music on a grand scale. The concert concludes with Meredith’s Nautilus, taking us beneath the waves and into the mysterious world of the ocean depths.
A concert filled with colour, atmosphere, drama and breathtaking orchestral sound, Planet Earth is an unforgettable celebration of the natural world - and the extraordinary music it has inspired.
