International Student Buddies

Our award winning International Student Buddies are here to make sure your transition to University life goes as smoothly as possible.

All international students are welcome to sign up to the scheme, and will be paired with a buddy to offer help and support with a lot of different things, in and out of Uni.

But don't just take it from us - here are the International Student Buddies to explain the scheme in their own words!

In addition to helping you, we organise a number of events. Last year the team set up cultural fairs, dance routines, movie nights, language taster sessions and even trips to other cities in the UK! If you also have ideas for
other activities, feel free to get in touch as we may be able to make it possible.

Jonsmith Alankar Puli

My name is Jonsmith Alankar Puli and I am in my 2nd year studying Bachelors in Business Information Technology at BCU. I am from India but lived half my life in Kenya. I speak English, Hindi, Swahili and Telugu. I have always believed in learning with new experiences. I learn from travelling around the world and wish to continue that.

Staying in Birmingham for the past two years has given me an opportunity to discover new interests. I hated cooking but once I joined a restaurant as a part time job, I ended up taking the job of a Chef. These are the types of challenges I believe to overcome being a student away from home. Birmingham has certainly become close to my heart. I love to interact with new people and wish to assist you in any way possible.
