Everything you need to succeed from day one

More than a university, you’ll be joining a community that’s got your back. When you join us, here are 10 things you can expect as soon as you arrive.

01

Affordable food on campus to keep you fuelled

Get filling hot meals for under £3, thanks to 40% off food at our catering outlets. Plus, you can have free soup in the winter and free fruit in the summer to keep you charged between lectures.

Looking to be even more savvy? Bring in your own meals from home and heat them in the microwaves in every building.

02

Industry-leading placements and support

You'll have the chance to gain industry and professional practice experience through work placements, mentoring schemes and live projects. BCU has been named as the best university in the West-Midlands for work experience (2025).

03

Free access to laptops and computers

Hire a laptop or MacBook for free from LapSafe lockers across our campuses so you don't need to spend on tech.

You'll also have access to the latest software on desktop computers and Macs on-site, including free access to the full Adobe suite.

04

Discounted gym membership to keep you active

Membership at the Doug Ellis Sports Centre is just £10 per month, with 80 pieces of equipment and access to the Sports Hall and all-weather pitches.

05

24/7 library access

Study and relax in our libraries at times that work for you. You'll find free computers, thousands of resources and bookable private study rooms. The library team will be here to help you with the transition to studying at university level.

06

Support with money

We're here to help with money. You can get tailored support from our Money and Childcare Advice team, including access to a Student Pantry so you never go hungry, an emergency fund to help you through a crisis and more.

07

Opportunities to Go Abroad and explore the world

Spend some time abroad as part of any course, with funding available to help you. From a few weeks in the summer to an entire semester, Go Abroad is your chance to see the world while studying.

08

Part-time jobs on campus

Earn while you learn with flexible student jobs on campus. As soon as you start at BCU, you can sign up as a student ambassador to work at events.

If that's not your thing, you could get a job in the campus shop with the Students' Union or even become a Student Content Creator.

09

Support for your business goals

With the highest number of student business startups of any university in the West Midlands, we're here for the entrepreneurs. Get tailored support to help your dreams become reality.

10

A community ready to welcome you

Sports, societies, and events to help you settle in and find your people. From competitive sports to faith and culture, your Students' Union is here to welcome you. They'll be there for you throughout your time at university, with advice and support when you need it.
