Hafiz Muhammad Usman Rana is a Programme Director for BSc (Hons) Business Finance and a Lecturer in Finance at Birmingham City Business School. He teaches Finance to Undergraduate and Postgraduate students in the Department of Finance, and Economics (FE). He has led and taught modules within HE institutions in the UK and Pakistan over the last 7 years.
Before joining Birmingham City Business School, Hafiz spent 2 years as a Financial Analyst for the S&P Global, a US-based largest financial company that has equipped him well to relate theory with practice when teaching. Furthermore, he has worked with Shell Helix and Coca-Cola as an event organiser for over 1 year.
Hafiz is also a Doctoral Researcher in Finance at BCU, and his research is aligned with the programmes taught within Finance and thesis examines Market Efficiency, Market Co-integration, and Market Determinants for Precious metals (Gold, Silver, Platinum, and Palladium).
Besides, his research has been acknowledged externally, the Board of Directors of International Precious Metals Institute, Inc USA (IPMI) and awarded a certificate of achievement. In addition, his first working paper entitled: “Market Efficiency of Precious Metals; International Evidence” has been accepted for presentation at the 6th International Conference 2020 on Applied Theory, Macro, and Empirical Finance (AMEF) in Greece. He is also a Research Development member - Centre for Applied Finance and Economics (CAFE) at Birmingham City University and seminar convenor for the up-coming working paper series.
