Margaret produced and interpreted monthly budgets, making recommendations as to what action if any needed to reduce variances, monitoring of monthly cash flows liaising with banks as required.

Margaret also researched and instigated the opening of a centralised buying department for the buying of all resale items which resulted in major cash savings and a much improved customer service.

She was actively involved in the implementation of a new computer system throughout the organisation with particular emphasis on designing the coding system.

Margaret moved into education and spent a number of years in further education before moving into higher education. She has taught both financial and management accounting across a range of qualifications.

She managed the accounting provision including recruiting staff, monitoring staff performance through Continuing professional development (CPD), costing of courses, marketing of courses, timetabling and producing relevant reports for awarding bodies and ensuring awarding body quality requirements were met.

Margaret has identified gaps in the market and planned and introduced new courses to meet demand. She has developed the reputation of the accountancy provision to such an extent that it became one of the most financially viable departments and had an excellent reputation for the quality of its provision with results well above the national average.
