Be a mentor

Mentoring We have a thriving mentoring programme where employers work alongside students on a 1-1 basis.

Would you like to mentor a student and support the leaders of tomorrow?

What our mentors gain from the schemes:

  • An excellent training programme designed to enhance leadership and interpersonal skills
  • Personal satisfaction and awareness
  • Formal recognition which may progress your own career
  • Expansion of your networks of professional contacts
  • The chance to be shortlisted for the Brightside Mentoring Awards

We offer three mentoring schemes:

Inspiring Futures

Inspiring Futures professional mentoring scheme brings together final-year students with working professionals based in the West Midlands. It has been designed to give penultimate, and final-year students the chance to get face-to-face mentoring from a young professional based in or around Birmingham. To get involved, email Gagan Sekhon, Employability Mentoring Officer.

Mentor a current student or another graduate through our Ask@BCU Online Mentoring Scheme

Online mentoring is an opportunity for professionals who want to use their own skills and experience to support students in their penultimate and final years as they prepare for employment. As a mentor, you will provide industry insight to develop the student’s commercial awareness, support in developing their employability skills and explore possible career options. All communication takes place online so you can inspire your mentee from anywhere in the world! See how the scheme works
