HND Jewellery and Silversmithing

Jewellery and Silversmithing student, Toby, travels from Ludlow, Shropshire, to BCU every day to pursue his passion in design and creation.

The three-hour daily commute can be challenging, but Toby has turned those long train journeys into moments of creativity and inspiration.

After learning the fundamentals of jewellery making during his first year, Toby was given the opportunity to begin designing his own pieces. His work quickly gained recognition, leading to an opportunity to design the Freedom of the City medal to Black Sabbath, which included apresentation to the late Ozzy Osbourne.

He chose BCU because of its strong links to Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter and the opportunity to study within a dedicated School of Jewellery.
