Joanna Fursman

Joanna Fursman is an artist researcher and art educator studying a practice-led PhD at the School of Art, Birmingham. Her education practice is primarily involved in lecturing across both Fine Art practice and Education for MA and BA Art and Education Practices. Joanna has taught on Initial Teacher Education courses across Birmingham City and Newman Universities, Birmingham and her experience also includes teaching Art and Design Technology across the UK, delivering workshops and lectures internationally.

Joanna was recently awarded a GRAIN Photography Hub bursary. This aims to produce new photographic work in response to the effects of the covid-19 pandemic on young people returning to school in Birmingham. Earlier in her career, she was co-director, curator and fundraiser at Northern Ireland’s first Artist Run gallery, Catalyst Arts, Belfast; a collaborator with Factotum publishing collective, Belfast and Source Magazine, Ireland.
