Poppy is an NMC Registered Midwife who started her career working in inpatient midwifery and later moved into roles with specific focus on postnatal care and screening. It was in these specialist roles when teaching students and colleagues in clinical practice that Poppy was inspired to move into health education.
Poppy started working in health education at Birmingham City University in early 2023 as an Assistant Lecturer on the Assistant Practitioner (AP) and Senior Healthcare Support Worker (SHCSW) apprenticeship. During her time at the university Poppy has since progressed into a Lecturer position at the end of 2023 and took on the role of Deputy Course Lead on the AP/SHCSW courses in 2024.
In her role as Lecturer and Deputy Course Lead Poppy works with students across maternity, rehabilitation and radiography practice with a wide range of clinical expertise and experience. Poppy is dedicated to the development and progression of Assistant Practitioners and Senior Healthcare Support Workers and the difference they can make to service users experiences of care.
