Halima Khan is Course Lead for Children’s Nursing at Birmingham City University, with a clinical background in paediatric nursing. Her academic practice is shaped by her experience of delivering high-quality, compassionate care to children, young people, and their families, underpinning her commitment to excellence in nursing education. She works closely with module teams to lead curriculum delivery and enhance the student experience at programme level.

Halima is passionate about advancing teaching, learning, and student outcomes, with a particular focus on inclusive education, curriculum development, and assessment practice. Her areas of interest include evidence-based teaching strategies, formative assessment, and reducing attainment gaps within nursing education.

She is actively engaged in educational scholarship and is committed to sharing best practice within and beyond the University. Her work includes contributing to initiatives that promote widening participation, community engagement, and equitable access to higher education, as well as collaborative work focused on diversifying leadership within higher education. She is also involved in dissemination activities, including engagement with Advance HE, to support the sharing of evidence-informed practice across the sector.

Halima continues to develop her academic practice through postgraduate study in education, further strengthening her leadership in teaching and learning.
