Siobhan has extensive experience of supporting children and young people with complex communication and eating, drinking and swallowing needs. Before joining BCU, Siobhan worked in the NHS as a highly specialist Speech and Language Therapist in the areas of Augmentative and Alternative communication (AAC), Paediatric Eating, Drinking and Swallowing (EDS) needs and Clinical Education. Siobhan is particularly passionate about collaborative working, supporting children and young people to share their experiences and goals and working as part of multidisciplinary teams to coordinate person-centred care.
Siobhan has been actively engaged in regional, national and international working parties and clinical excellence networks in these areas of specialism, acting as a member of the IDDSI Clinical Reference UK Group, International Paediatric IDDSI Reference Group (PEDRIG) and England Local AAC Services Working Group. Siobhan has also acted as an advisor on Low Incidence, High Need conditions (with RCSLT) and on Eating Environments in Special Schools (as part of FEASt: Food and Eating Environments in Alternative Education and Special Schools Study with University of Birmingham and Newcastle University).
