Clive Tonge is an award-winning filmmaker and educator with more than 20 years of experience making films and teaching filmmaking. Alongside his teaching, he remains an active practitioner with a number of projects currently in development, bringing ongoing industry experience directly into the classroom.

His first short film, Emily and the Baba Yaga, won an RTS Award and screened at festivals worldwide, including Cannes, the LA International Film Festival, and Edinburgh. His follow-up short, Love Lesson, was selected for the British Film Council’s Top Ten Directors to Watch DVD and promoted internationally.

Clive was also a major contributor to the documentary Chimera: Middlesbrough, which was broadcast on BBC Two in a prime-time slot. His short horror film Sunday Best went on to screen at horror festivals across the United States.

More recently he directed the $2.7 million sleep paralysis horror feature MARA, starring Olga Kurylenko (Quantum of Solace, Oblivion). The film received a worldwide limited theatrical release and is now available on major platforms including Netflix USA, Amazon Prime, Sky Movies, and the Horror Channel.
