She completed her PhD in Law at the University of Birmingham (UoB), where she also served as a Teaching Associate, teaching Tort Law. Her doctoral research, Bridging the Gaps in International and Regional Laws Regulating the Transboundary Movement of Electronic Waste: Using Domestic Laws, examined gaps in international and regional legal frameworks governing the transboundary movement of electronic waste (e-waste). The research provides recommendations for strengthening these frameworks and proposes practical legal and regulatory measures to enhance the effectiveness of domestic regulatory instruments pending amendments to international and regional laws governing the transboundary movement of e-waste.

Dr Martha has over 14 years of experience in legal practice, combining private legal practice with extensive experience working within the Nigerian Government. Before commencing her PhD, she worked as a Senior Legal Officer at the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), a Federal Government agency in Nigeria. Prior to joining NITDA and commencing her master's degree, she practised with Ogefere Chambers, a law firm in Benin City, Nigeria.

She holds a Master of Laws (LLM) degree from the University of Kent and a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree from Benson Idahosa University, Benin City. She is also qualified as a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria.
