Dr Panch Suntharalingam is an Associate Professor for International at Birmingham City University and a distinguished academic, researcher, and innovation leader with extensive experience in higher education, internationalisation, knowledge transfer, and industry collaboration. Based in the West Midlands, United Kingdom, he has built a reputation for creating impactful partnerships between universities, industry, and government while advancing student success, research excellence, and global engagement.

Dr Suntharalingam’s career spans teaching, research supervision, curriculum development, transnational education, and strategic international recruitment. He has delivered large-scale international academic initiatives, including lectures and student engagement activities that have supported global recruitment and educational partnerships.

A passionate advocate for innovation and knowledge exchange, he has led and supported numerous Knowledge Transfer Partnerships (KTPs), helping organisations develop innovative solutions while enhancing graduate employability and strengthening university–industry collaboration. His work has contributed significantly to research impact and business innovation.

His research interests include artificial intelligence in education, digital transformation, transnational education, internationalisation of higher education, creativity and innovation in learning, and multidisciplinary approaches to societal challenges. He has authored and contributed to book chapters on AI-enhanced learning, digital access in global education, university–government–industry collaboration, and the internationalisation of higher education.

Dr Suntharalingam completed a PhD sponsored by the NHS, focusing on technologies to improve the assessment of recovery potential in patients with severe brain injuries. His research led to the patented development of innovative medical technologies and software applications designed to reduce misdiagnosis and improve patient outcomes.
